Louboutin Sues YSL Over Red Soles

The bottom of Yves Saint Laurent's shoes have Christian Louboutin seeing red and now he's suing!

In the lawsuit filed on Thursday, Louboutin claims YSL's red shoes with red soles "are virtually identical to plaintiff's Red Sole Mark is likely to cause and is causing confusion, mistake and deception among the relevant purchasing public as to the origin of the infringing footwear."

While the shoes in question do look similar, we think Monsieur Louboutin is going to have a problem winning this one. YSL's red on red shoe is part of a larger collection that matches the color of the shoe with the sole.

The court papers also say Louboutin only noticed the alleged copycat in January, which is kinda funny since YSL's sold red sole shoes in the past.

Thoughts???

  2. Shouldn't two brands with this kind of clout find a way to deal with this in a backroom away from prying public eyes? This type of lawsuit brings everyone down.
