Tasty Congee and Noddle Wantun Shop - Happy Valley

A few days ago a foodie friend of mine suggested me to try this place when I asked him about a good place to get Chinese food in Happy Valley! This was a pretty random question coming from me as I usually do not go in this area , but it was one of these night when my dear boyfriend and I decided to take an evening walk on Boham road from Central to Happy Valley ... Some fresh air , some exercise and some time together before a nice dinner and I was craving for Chinese food. Alright, I know I always do ! But how could it be any other way when we are spoilt with some many nice place to explore in Hong Kong !
Deal : Tonight we try Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop in Happy Valley .

My first question was : " Why on earth do they spell it wunton instead of wonton ... ? "
Still have no answer to this tricky question !
Anyways ! We first arrived at the restaurant completely firsty and starved to death ! We needed food , drinks and a cozy place . First impression : This must but SUPER $$$$$ Pricey !
It smelled and looked so good ... We just went in !
Good surprise way more affordable than what we first thought so we started ordering pretty much all vegetarian dishes and seafood on the menu !

Those Stir fried vegetable with garlic (53HKD) were super tasty, A MUST TRY ! the garlic was strong enough but not overtaking the flavors ! <3

Stir-fried noodles with shrimp and scramble eggs (93HKD)
Really good , even though as an expat I always like my eggs to be a tiny bit more cooked but I guess I am starting to embrace my Chinese life as I now like them a lot !

Rice Noodle Rolls filled with fresh shrimps (40HKD), Better than in many very expensive restaurants in HK

Shrimp and baby shoots dumplings (26HKD)

Shrimp dumplings (30HKD) Interior predominantly shrimp with no large bits of garlic or ginger. Nicely seasoned. Exterior was not too thick or chewy and was easy to eat. One of the better prawn dumplings I have had.

Deep fried Wontons in sweet and sour sauce (S:53HKD / L: 72HKD): My absolute favorite tonight !

Spring rolls in vegetarian style (24HKD)
these were a pleasant surprise. Not too oily, the interior was made with bean sprouts and a very small amount of mushroom. Despite the simplicity they had a very nice taste and a pleasant change from the chinese spring rolls served at other restaurants

Hot dessert : Sweet pear with Chinese almonds (28HKD)

Sunday Dim Sum at Fuk Lam Moon - Probably the best dim sum in Hong Kong

Last weekend , after a though night out , my boyfriend decided to take me for dim sum as he knows that they are my absolute craving ! I could eat them every day , but alright: nothing better than a dim sum feast on a Sunday morning after a long night out !
Well, by morning I mean 3 pm for us ! haha
He wanted to try Ovologue in Wanchai but by the time we took a taxi and arrived there , the restaurant was closed ! I think this was my lucky day and we ended up walking towards Fook Lam moon that I've been dying to try for so long ! So we arrived there and it was already closing! I think they read the sadness in my eyes and told us to hurry up to oder and have a sit !
finally time has come to enjoy Fook Lam moon Dim sum!

The group’s flagship eatery; this Fook Lam Moon restaurant is situated in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong island, right next to the commercial districts of Admiralty and Central.

The four-storey complex offers diners a luxurious setting in which to enjoy a wide variety of exotic seafood and meat dishes, spanning giant garoupa, giant eel, pigeon and seasonal seafood.

Dim Sum, a Cantonese favourite is available every day with special varieties on the weekends. Private rooms are also available for big parties or when privacy is desirable.

Steamed prawn dumplings with vegetables 60 HKD
The fillings are a combination of shrimps and diced, crunchy vegetables. Great way to start! The rice skin was just perfect and the flavor unpredictable ! loved it !

Special of the day : Steamed prawn and spinach dumplings 60 HKD
Really good even though it was not my favorite. Very delicate in flavor. Perfectly steamed.

Hacao : Steamed prawn dumplings 60 HKD
The texture , the taste , the combination of prawn and bamboo shoots ... nothing else to add but : YUMMY!

Stir fried egg noodles with king prawns , fungus and vegetables. 268 HKD
The texture of the noodles was amazing : perfectly cooked but still crunchy on the top ! The prawns were big , juicy and a wonderful flavor !

For my Swedish boyfriend! Steamed minced beef balls

Deep fried bean curd skin rolls with fresh shrimps 60 HKD
I think this dish has to be my favorite of the day together with the wantons but here I got to apologize as I got overwhelmed and just ate them up before I realized I totally forgot to take pictures haha .
To go back to the bean curd skin rolls, one word : Heaven ! just go there , try them and then you can die and go to heaven !

Deep Fried prawn spring rolls 60 HKD
I usually don't love spring rolls: too oily , not crunchy enough , the filling is way too often tasteless... well Fook lam moon proved me wrong and I am glad about that ! Now I now I love spring rolls and I will come back here to get some more of those yummy little ones !

Steamed rice rolls with fresh shrimps 78HKD

The flavors in this soy sauce and fresh chilies in by far the best I have ever tasted !
I was really impressed and even more when I realized that even my BF who isn't usually a big fan of dim sum, loved it !
We will come back for sure ! A must try !
