The cold is here and everyone is freezing in Hong Kong! It mean one thing: time has come for you to update your skincare to prevent your skin from losing its glow.

Here are 5 tips that will help you go through this though time of the year.
For some people cold weather mean dry skin on the face , hands and feet. But for others it may be even worse: skin flaking, cracking, even eczema...

1- Ditch that heater!
Heaters are really bad for two simple reasons: they drop humidity but also dry out your pretty skin.
Instead invest in warm jammies, good quality cotton bedsheets and don't forget to open your windows in the morning to get some fresh air in your apartment before you'll keep keep your windows closed all day to retain the heat.
Ohhh BTW, the same thing is to apply to the long and hot showers.... Forget them , they just dry out your skin and actually strips your skin of natural essential oil

2- Winterize your skin care
The cosmetics you use during summertime and wintertime are really different. Winter has arrive and time has come to buy a good hydrating serum. Switch to a nourishing creamy cleanser and do not forget to apply your serum before your moisturizer in the morning and night.
another tip is also to add some nourishing oil to the water of your bath (for the lucky ladies who have a bathtub in Hong Kong !)

3- Introduce Anti-aging skin care
With cold weathers you skin will dehydrate really quickly and get more and more dull... This is your skin's aging process speeding up and you need to stop that ! Introduce your skin to a retinol based product for it will help accelerate your skin's cell turnover and give you more chance to get back your youthful glow. Last but not least it will prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles.

4- Use Sunscreen
If you go out in the street and there is enough light for you to read a newspaper it means that there are enough UV rays that contributes to wrinkles, skin spots and skin cancer. Use a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or above.

5- Exfoliate your skin
Winter is not the time of the year to skip exfoliation. It helps remove dead layers of skin. Do it once a week in the shower and it will keep your skin looking glowing and radiant.

My wonderful afternoon at Phillip Wain.

Yesterday I got the chance to try out The Phillip Wain facilities in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon.

I received a voucher in my December MyLuxBox and I had to choose in between a 7-days Exercise Pass at the Phillip Wain facilities OR an Hydro Boost Facial & Body Massage with La Colline cosmetics. I decided to Call Phillip Wain and book an appointment for their Facial and Massage and Give it a try !

Phillip Wain has been an Asian leader in fitness and beauty industry for more than 30 years with branches in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. Luckily they have a branch in TST which is really convenient as my new office is located there! There newly opened branch is right opposite Mira Hotel, in the Miramar Tower (11/Fl) and you can easily book at 2377 3888.

The staff is Chinese but most of them speak pretty good English and they all are really nice and helpful.

Upon arrival I was given this really cute leather notepad where I had to fill in my contact information then I was given a short introduction of the facilities. This branch is newly renovated as they just moved here 5 months ago.

The venue is all so luxurious, clean and lighting is soft so you immediately feel like in a comfy cocoon. The staff took me to the changing rooms and gave me a Phillip Wain bathrobe , cute slippers and fresh towels. I was really positive surprised as everything smells so fresh and flowery over there ! So many Fitness facilities often smell like chlorine and give me headache! At Phillip Wain this is total opposite... The venue is clean and the wooden cabinets looks so nice and homey...

I gave it a try , but seriously , who can look "cool" with a bathrobe ! HAHA

I went around the facilities and here is a Thai Massage room (above).

The Gym Section is quite huge with brand new equipments, personal trainers....

They also host a choice of literally hundreds of exercise and dance classes weekly for members at every level. The wealth of options on offer includes:


Cardiovascular Training: XT Lite,Kick Boxing, Step Challenge, Combat, … Muscular Strength and Endurance: TBC, Gliding Tone, Core Fusion, and Power Fit… Mind and Spirit : Rock’n Roll Stretch, Yoga, Gyrokinesis, Pilates & Allegro… Fitness Through Dance: Cumbia Dance, Aero Sit Dance and CardioBar Dance…

You even get some light snacks whenever you want and also so freshly made apple juice.

After going around the facilities, a personal beautician met me in her private office, they basically have 10 of those small offices where you can meet highly experienced sport and beauty experts.

The beautiful and kind lady sat with me for a while when she just asked questions in order to evaluate my type of skin and my special needs. Thanks to this, every facial, treatment or sport program are adapted to every single lady! They will adapt everything depending on your health , age, condition and expectations.

Here is the beauty products shop section. Wonderland for serial shoppers like me.

The facial I received was a La Colline Hydro-boost Collagen Facial. This treatment is using the renowned brand La Colline which is famous in cellular anti-aging. The concept is that they use pure Royal jelly to nourish and moisturize the skin . During the facial various relaxing massages are used in order for the skin to absorb the products . They gave me a neck and shoulder massage and also scalp and hands: HEAVEN !

When i left I could notice impressive results in my skin's softness and suppleness. I can tell is was hydrated, revitalized and re-plumped.

This La Colline Facial is mostly about improving fine lines but it also improve cells metabolism and skin radiance and finally is deeply effective in nourishing the skin! I do recommend you girls to try it out !

The Sauna and Hammam can compete with most of the High-End Hotel Spas in Asia !

The access to the wet section looks so glamorous with velvet curtains ! The Show must go on !

Until the last second the venue has it right ! You have some cosmetics to make yourself look pretty before you go back to work or meet you friends. the part I loved the most was the hairbrushes: What a good idea to have this "used" / "unused" distinction.

To make it short , I left Phillip Wain so relaxed and my skin was glowing, hydrated and refreshed. I immediately called my girls to share the good tip!

Next time I may go to their Causeway Bay branch as it is closer to my home and I could go for a nap right after. I felt like I was walking on a cloud and I guess what's all you ask for when you go for a facial /Massage.

Can Lip Balm Be Addictive?

I apply lip balm at least ten times a day. My desk is filled with enough balms to last me until retirement, and I feel naked without at least one coat on my lips. I don’t care whether it’s tinted or clear, flavored or tasteless: if it comes in a tube or jar, I’m happy to smear it on my lips. But lately I learned that much like chocolate or reality TV, lip balm can be downright addictive. In fact, there’s a whole website devoted to the dangers of lip balm abuse along with a new book called Can You Get Hooked On Lip Balm?. After reading up on the warnings, I’m now trying to wean myself off the balm.

Though it isn’t an addiction in the medical sense, lip balm use is a vicious cycle: the more you wear it, the more you need it. Why? According to the cosmetic scientists behind The Beauty Brains, it all has to do with the way your skin renews itself. As the top layers of skin die and flake off, your body signals the bottom layers to produce fresh cells. But when you apply balm, you slow moisture loss, so your dead top cells don’t dry out as quickly, and your skin isn’t producing fresh cells deep down. Once the balm wears off, there are no plump new cells to replace the expiring ones, which means your lips feel dry. Then you’re inspired to reach for the balm again.

What’s worse is that many lip balms contain ingredients that will actually make your lips even drier. Take Carmex for example. This drugstore staple markets itself as a two-in-one cold sore remedy and lip ointment. Yet three of its main ingredients are suspect. Menthol and camphor provide a cool tingly sensation, but they also dry out skin (good for cold sores, not so much for ordinary chapped lips). And phenol, an antiseptic, can actually strip away your top layer of skin, leaving lips more exposed than ever.

The solution to lip balm overkill? Keep your lips hydrated by drinking lots of water, and only bust out the balm on those cold, windy days when you really need it. Look for an all-natural formula that won’t aggravate your lips. My pick is Pangea Organics Lip Balm, which has organic oils and essential fatty acids that will soothe (not strip) your lips. Since the formula is super moisturizing, you won’t need to smear it on at five-minute intervals throughout the day.

But wait. Now that I’m thinking about it, my lips are feeling kind of chapped. Time to go reapply my lip balm. What can I say? Old habits really do die hard.

Q: As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an Olympic Horse rider ... Horses are my biggest passion in the whole entire world... I think about them every day and I can only be my true self when I am on the back of a horse ... Horse riding taught me how to be a better person , how to be competitive and how to be respectful towards people...

Q: Did you make this dream come true or change your mind?

My dream didn't come true ... I will most likely never be part of an Olympic Team but I will work my butt off and find a way to reach my new dream ! I want to create an association to help disabled or mentally handicapped children with Equitheraphy... I remember helping other children as a young teenager at the horse barn. Equestrian Therapy is dedicated to providing horseback riding to children and adults who can personally benefit from a natural encounter with horses. There are many kinds of disabilities that can affect a child's basic motor and communication skills. Unfortunately, many parents are given less-than-favorable prognoses from counselors and people in the medical community. Many are told their children's abilities and skills won't ever improve.This is my dream , and I will make this one come true !

Q: What is your favourite childhood memory?

Winter with my Parents and my brother ... a fireplace , my old cat Gribouille on my laps and the snow in our garden in south of France ....

My brother and I would also organize those amazing shows ... Lady Gaga can go and hide herself ! haha

I guess my brother is the real singer and musician in the family ! He is actually now really good. I guess my only skills were at organizing the show ! Already at that time , Pr And Event organization were running in my veins !

Q: The biggest dream you have right now?

I am quite satisfied with my life at the moment ... but my dream ... Is to have a cute little family with my dear other half ! You know how little girls are supposed to be romantic and believe in the true love and prince charming ??!

Well , as a kid I was more of a Tom boy and I was spending my days at the barn in the mud ! haha

I guess I started to believe in Romance and true love , when I met my boyfriend ! and my biggest dream now is to see our little family (can you call a couple and 2 cats a family? I guess , YES! ) grown bigger , and travel the world together !

"I really just wear what's comfortable! Today I have on five-year-old cashmere leggings full of holes, my agent's corduroy trousers (he's English, I admired them 10 years ago, he took them off and gave them to me!), a Japanese shirt I bought in Tokyo, and a Vanessa Bruno jersey. It's three years old, [but I] love the neckline. And this cardigan I scooped up just in time from a man I didn't know — it's Margiela, I adore it! I have a turban on my head that I made to hide my curlers for the show — it's a 15-year-old Thai silk scarf and a Hermès twisted muffler. For the show, I decided to wear all vintage stuff: Yves Saint Laurent 20-year-old "smoking" trousers, a 20-year-old dinner jacket and shirt from Charvet, and new suede men's shoes from Pierre Hardy. And a Hermès cashmere black coat. It was all mine, and I feel happy and boyish in it."

Do you have a favorite designer?
"I don't know that I have one ... I like doing fashon shoots and then buying up the things I like. I'm not a shopping spree person except in New York. I love secondhand shops. Oh, I did a Marc Jacobs looting last summer — still wearing his scarf, sometimes as a turban! I spent a fortune in his men's shop. What's your favorite place on earth?
"Paris, I'm in love with ... Istanbul, I fell in love with, and in Japan, Kyoto is a passionate, long-lasting love. If I was young, New York would have been fun ... Chelsea in London is a phantom love, my mother's house by the river Thames. But childhood is the place I loved — and miss — the most."

What's the best live concert you've ever been to? What made it memorable?
"Serge's Casino de Paris — he had a "fall guy" come crashing in and tumble down the staircase. (He rang me up kindly to warn me of the stunt so I didn't die of shock.) Then he came sauntering in with a cigarette ... it was great, funny, witty, classy, unique. If not that, then at 14, I saw Leonard Bernstein play Gustav Mahler at the Albert Hall. He did the whole two hours for us, then, as a surprise, the whole orchestra took off their bow ties and [played] the West Side Story overture ... grandiose! I waited for him in the snow for an autograph. What an attractive, generous man ..."

Do you have any hidden talents that most people don't know about?

Not many people can claim that they are a muse to Marc Jacobs, inspired a Louis Vuitton collection, got married in a dreamy Alaïa dress and directed a handful of amazing films -- all in one lifetime.Sofia Coppola is the epitome of a Renaissance woman, and we're lovin' every minute of it.
Her latest venture brings Coppola's talents and the genius of the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe together in one amazing project. Mapplethorpe's exploration of New York's S & M scene through photography and collaborations with some of culture's heaviest hitters has secured him a star spot in our collective artistic memories.

Coppola curated an exhibition of his photographs, choosing her favorite pieces from his vast archives for a show at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris. The exhibition will run through January 7th, so if you happen to be in the City of Light before then, stop by and check it out. Lee Jeffries lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Close to the professional football circle, this artist starts to photograph sporting events. A chance meeting with a young homeless girl in the streets of London changes his artistic approach forever.
Lee Jeffries recalls that, initially, he had stolen a photo from this young homeless girl huddled in a sleeping bag. The photographer knew that the young girl had noticed him but his first reaction was to leave. He says that something made him stay and go and discuss with the homeless girl. His perception about the homeless completely changes. They become the subject of his art.
The models in his photographs are homeless people that he has met in Europe and in the United States: «Situations arose, and I made an effort to learn to get to know each of the subjects before asking their permission to do their portrait.» From then onwards, his photographs portray his convictions and his compassion to the world.

Queuing for the H&M x Versace Collection in HONG KONG

4:30 AM , yes AM , the is no mistake here , already out in the streets of Hong Kong starting to queue for the Versace X H&M collection. I must say it felt a bit weird to step out in the dark streets of Hong Kong while my Boyfriend and Picasso were still sleeping . I get out , grab a cab and witness the walk of shame of people heading out of clubs at 4:15 AM on a random Wednesday night. Call my friend who just woke up ! See you in 5 in front of H&M .
At that point I heard that people have been queuing since the afternoon of the day before to be the lucky owners of the first pieces of this exclusive collection.
When I arrived I realized that the queue was not only in front of H&M but way further on Queen's Road... Luckily I ask the security lady and she counted I was about number 100/110th.
WE WILL MAKE IT !

MY friend AI flew all the way from Taipei (as Taipei doesn't have any H&M ) and she queue with me for all this time even though she broke her foot a few weeks ago ! TAHNK YOU FOR COMING LOVE ! The madness of this experience wouldn't have been complete without you !

VOGUE < Sparkling water< Coffee < Tea ... We have everything we need for 6:30 hours of long queue!
At least we were lucky : the weather is still so warm in HK !
